Fort Walton Beach is about 35 minutes south of our shop in Crestview, and we are down there every week. The work is the same trades we do everywhere, but the ground is not. Along Eglin Parkway, Beal Parkway, and the neighborhoods off Racetrack Road, you are usually pouring on sandy soil with a high water table, sometimes a few feet above sea level. That changes how we prep a slab: more attention to compaction, drainage planned before the forms go in, and a base that will not wash out under the first tropical storm. Salt air also matters for exterior finishes, so sealers and fasteners are chosen with the Gulf a mile away in mind.

Fort Walton Beach also has a lot of mid-century housing stock, especially in the older neighborhoods near downtown and along the Sound. Those homes are solid block, and they are at the age where kitchens, baths, and additions make sense. That is a good match for a crew that does the block, the concrete, the tile, and the drywall itself.
